Datacap receives images from scanners, microfilm or microfiche, emails, mobile devices, file systems, faxes, and a myriad of other sources, and in a wide variety of formats. Several of this input technologies, such as scanners, fax machines, or mobile devices may shift, stretch, shrink the image, or some combination of all three. This image alteration complicates the document recognition (see Figure below)

EDAC’s OverLei Plus:

• Analyzes the original fingerprint;
• Determines the image resolution (DPI);
• Identifies both the horizontal and vertical pixel sizes;
• Utilizes Image Matching to quickly match new images being processed and/or Keyword Matching, which locates the quadrants of the image and implements a weighted scoring to ensure the correct image is matched;
• Creates multiple anchor/target points within the document based off of the original template
• Finds the anchor points on the new image and matches them with the existing template or Datacap Fingerprint; and then
• Conducts several passes to ensure that it has matched the correct points successfully (OverLei uses a quadrant method to ensure it has identified the correct image).

Once the anchors are secured, OverLei manipulates the image and resizes the DPI to match the original Fingerprint from the original blank version. The resizing function will shift the image, stretch it, shrink it or some combination thereof in order to force the anchor points on the imported or ingested image to correspond to those on the blank version. Once the image has been re-sized, then the extraction step within Datacap may proceed.

OverLei Image Matching
Similar to facial recognition – The OverLei Image Matching Engine can be done at the page level or we can break it down into specific sections of a form. For example, OverLei can be configured to use the Top of a Page. No need for full page OCR – we quickly look at each page and see if we match the Image. We can look for any image on a page and specify the location to look.

OverLei Keyword Matching
With keyword matching OverLei uses the Datacap XML file to search for Combinations of words to identify a Page. We broke the page up into different coordinates and added Scoring and Regular Expressions to ensure that the correct form is identified.
